Don Jessop

Your love of horses may be an indication of something deeper.
Have you ever heard the theory of genetic memory? It suggests that some of your memories aren’t actually yours. They may belong to your ancestors, passed down like other traits. It’s a fun idea. Maybe there’s something to it.
I often dream of a world where horses are everything..., industry, travel, farming. I find myself wondering if that deep-rooted love of horses comes from somewhere beyond my own life. Maybe one of my great-grandparents was a horseman or a trainer.
Of course, it’s speculative in nature, not an assumption. But it’s fun to imagine. What if your love of riding was born from an ancestor racing across the plains, or a cowboy homesteading the Rocky Mountains? Maybe an English lady of status, sitting sidesaddle as she approached the family estate.
Maybe your ancestors farmed, traveled, or roamed. Maybe they fought side by side with their horse in a battle for freedom. Maybe they were outlaws. Ooooh, it’s fun to imagine, and sometimes it feels real.
It can feel like that inner desire and passion wasn’t just a small flame sparked early in life. It feels deeper, tied to something beyond our current lifespan. It’s a connection to something lasting and vibrant.
Whether or not genetic memory exists, we horse lovers can all relate to that feeling. It’s more than a passing interest. It’s something special, meaningful, almost ethereal.
Stay connected to that feeling, my friend. Don’t let fear or the opinions of others hold you back from living the dream.
With love ❤️Don
