You didn’t get into horses to stay safe. We need safety, yeah? But you got into horses because they are EXCITING!
Horses connect us to the West, our history, industry, sport, wealth, royalty, and even war! Horses connect us to our Primal Spirit.
If you’re offended or upset when your horse bucks, stop. Don’t be. It’s just a reminder of how powerful they are. We NEED that reminder.
If you’re offended when they resist, don’t be. It’s a reminder of their impressive resolve to survive.
If you’re offended or upset when they spook, don’t be. It’s a reminder of how vulnerable they are and their need for a great leader to show up. You get to be that leader.
You got a horse to have fun. We all did. We don’t live in the industrial world where horses were vehicles, ground tillers, pack carriers, and cart pullers. We don’t need them to fight battles. We don’t chase buffalo for our next meal. We often reenact those past times but it’s no longer a necessity. So, recreation is the primary reason for having a horse. But it’s not the PRIMAL reason. That goes deeper.
You got a horse because you need to be reminded there is something bigger out there. Something amazing, you can’t even put your finger on, but it’s there. That’s your passion, tucked away, behind shopping lists, feed supplies, trainers' tips, trucks, trailers, breeding pedigrees, saddles, bridles, property, fencing, and a big database of people you need around you.
You need to connect to your passion! Get it back. Fill it up! You got a horse to feel alive! SO START LIVING!
