Don Jessop
My friend recently returned from the doctor with a recommendation to reduce high blood pressure. Now he's on a mission to make sure he has no stress. As you can imagine, action without moderation turns into an obsession.
Focusing on avoiding triggers, ironically, can sometimes create more stress than just dealing with the problems.
Problems with horses are similar. If your horse is misbehaving and you just avoid the triggers that cause him to be upset, you ultimately just find yourself shrinking away and afraid to address the problems.
On the other hand, dealing with a problem, especially, in small chunks, will change your belief in what you're capable of and you find yourself excelling, in spite of the challenges.
So, here's the question of the year... what are you avoiding? Have you stopped riding? Have you stopped riding with friends? Have you stopped showing? Have you stopped spending time where you want to spend time, like trail riding or arena riding? If you're avoiding something, STOP... WAIT no longer! I have holiday gift for you.
Take this gift and start the engines of desire once again.
